Flavour of the Month | Pumpkin & Ginger Dog Biscuits

This recipe combines super healthy ingredients, like fibre-rich pumpkin, whole-wheat flour and rolled oats, inspired by our Zoë Pumpkin & Ginger soft and chewy dog treats, and courtesy of Dog Treat Kitchen. Yum!


1 ½ cups whole-wheat flour

1 cup rolled oats

2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. ginger

1 tsp. allspice

2 tbsp. canola oil

½ cup pure pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)

¼ cup natural, smooth peanut butter

¼ cup water

Additional flour for rolling


  1. Preheat oven to 325 F
  2. Mix dry ingredients in stand mixer bowl
  3. In another bowl, mix wet ingredients
  4. Make a well in dry ingredients in stand mixer bowl and pour in the pumpkin mixture
  5. Start mixing on low speed
  6. Add water and mix at low/medium speed until dough is no longer sticky
  7. Place the dough onto a floured surface, and hand knead the dough
  8. Roll out to ¼ inch thickness and cut into festive shapes
  9. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes
  10. Turn oven off and leave cookies in for an additional 30 minutes
  11. Cool on a wire rack before serving
  12. Yield: Approximately 100 cookies using a 1-inch cookie cutter

Storage: Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks, store up to four weeks in the fridge and up to 6 months in the freezer
