Spending hot summer days at the beach with family and friends is wonderful. What can make these relaxing, sunny days even better? Bringing your pup with you! Not all beaches are dog friendly, but luckily we found a great list of the best beaches for you and your best buddy. The beaches below are lovely, and come with the added bonus of off-leash areas or designated dog-swimming areas. Read on for more details!
Cherry Beach – Located in Toronto’s east end, pups are welcome anywhere on this beach. There is a large, fenced in off-leash area where pups are free to run around and swim. Outside of the fenced-in area, dogs need to be on a leash. Learn more here.
Spanish Banks Beach – Located in Vancouver, B.C., Spanish Banks Beach offers two large dog parks (in the West section and the Extension section) where dogs can be off-leash from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The beach features plenty amenities, such as volleyball courts, picnic tables and concessions, that the whole family can enjoy. MacKenzie Beach – Located in Tofino, B.C., this beautiful beach is entirely dog friendly. Your pup can be off-leash anywhere on the beach, and the area also offers dog-friendly accommodations, making it a great family vacation destination spot. Learn more here.
Sandbanks Provincial Park – Located in beautiful Prince Edward County, Ontario, Sandbanks features two dog beaches where your pup can roam freely off-leash. The beaches themselves are of exceptional quality, and the enormous dunes at Dunes Beach are something to be admired. Learn more here.
Canine Cove – Located in Whistler’s Lost Lake Park, Canine Cove offers a dog friendly, off-leash beach 400 metres north of Lost Lake Beach. In addition to the beach, the park offers 100 kilometres of beautiful hiking and biking trails. Learn more here.
Winnipeg Beach – Located in Manitoba approximately 45 minutes from Winnipeg, Winnipeg Beach offers a designated dog friendly, off-leash area. Outside of this designated zone, dogs must be kept on a leash. The beach features a new campground – great for a family camping adventure! Learn more here.
